West Kelowna Yamato for Pho

I was wanting a quick bite to eat before heading to pick up my son from school last week so I headed over to the new mall by our place.  I was about to put the car in park outside of the DQ/Subway when I instead pulled out and headed over to Yamato for a bowl of Pho.

I had seen the Saigon Noodle Soup on their website and decided a bowl of soup was better for me then fast food:

By the description, I was expecting one large cooked prawn in with my chicken and was surprised to find three prawns throughout my bowl of soup.

I am not a big fan of pepper so could have done without the seasoning on the chicken.  The size of the bowl was huge and I missed having my “squishy sauces”.

When I left, I felt so stuffed!

Bamboo Chopsticks Westbank (again)

I finally made it to Bamboo Chopsticks with my partner last week which means I finally sampled other food on their menu!  I had contemplated taking my dSLR with me on our trip out, did not have my cell phone on me but was able to snap a few photos of our food with my partners cell phone camera.  I posted back in July about a trip to Bamboo Chopsticks which is my favourite restaurant in Westbank.

I did not take a photo of my Spring Rolls or Chicken Breast Soup because I did not want to make this post too photo heavy which increases the amount of time it takes to load the page (and there are photos in my previous Bamboo Chopsticks blog post).  The Spring Rolls are my favourite and were yummy as always.

There are very few restaurants I have ever gone to that the owner will make you feel very welcome, take the time to get to know you and always have a conversation with you (never mind remember you, your partners and your child’s name).  This is part of what makes Bamboo Chopsticks one of my favourite restaurants.  I tend to value service over quality and will pay more money for better service then less money and get crap customer service.

Dim Sum at Yamato in West Kelowna

After our last trip to Yamato West Kelowna and seeing that they have Dim Sum on Saturday and Sundays, my partner wanted to head back for Dim Sum.  I myself have had Dim Sum three times before and two of those experiences was not very pleasant for me and one was bearable.  This always has me hesitating to try it again but figured I would after having checked out the menu.

Now, this is the reason I have never been a fan of Dim Sum:

I love chocolate but I am also a texture person.  Even if the above had been made of chocolate, I still would not have liked it.  I enjoyed the Chive Prawn Spring Roll and the Beef Short Ribs, but anything else reminded me of exactly why I am NOT a fan of Dim Sum.

I tried and ate everything we ordered and for the most part, the flavours were great but the texture and feeling afterwards was enough for us to not want to go back again.  Please keep in mind that I am not a Dim Sum fan to begin with and normally would not even try it.

The flavours of the food was good and if it weren’t for me and my issues with gummy textured food, I would most definitely have it again.
