Memphis Blues Barbeque House has always been on my list of favourite restaurants. When I am not working a higher paying job in an office that makes me want to get out every day for lunch just to get out of the office, I really do not eat out that much – other then a “nibbly” with coffee.
Perhaps this should be another goal to set – trying different menu items at restaurants (and different restaurants). I tend to always go back to the same restaurants and eat the same things. Feeling adventurous, I asked the person working cash the difference between the BBQ Poutine (fries) and BBQ Nachos (tortilla chips) which are both topped with pulled pork, BBQ sauce and cheese which was stringy but not squeaky (I am assuming mozzarella since it was shredded and not cheese curds). I decided to go with a Diet Coke and the BBQ Poutine that she recommended with the fries lightly seasoned:
When this landed on my table, at first I was figuring for the price it would have been a bit bigger. Upon further inspection, my eyes popped out of my head when I noticed just how much pulled pork was sitting in front of me! As I ate through it, I saw that the fries were also a few deep. I only ate half of the BBQ poutine wanting to grab a cupcake I had been seeing advertised (but apparently they do not carry them in the South Surrey store).
When the server came around again, I asked her how this was re-heated and she figured because of the way they cook their fries, it should re-heat reasonably well. I had some of the leftovers for lunch today and the fries just did not taste the same.
Next time I will have to either not be saving room for dessert or really hungry so I can make it through the entire portion! Overall, it was a great experience and the staff was friendly!
