Hillcrest Farm Market Cafe

From my commute up Highway 33, we have watched as three new structures went up along the highway where Springfield meets Highway 33.

Hillcrest Farm Market opened late Fall and we finally stopped in last night for dinner on the way home from work.  Although my partner, our son and I have all gone there, last night was our first trip there together as a family.

Unfortunately my cell phone takes crappy pictures, especially when there is not much light so I will have to make sure to take a trip there with my dSLR to take better photos – or go when the Sun is still up.

The food and service was great.  The Veggie Pakora’s were amazing and my cell phone camera does not do this dish justice:

I had the Butter Chicken for dinner:

I left pretty stuffed after showing up starving.  The staff there was quite attentive to our needs and very friendly.  We will definitely be going back again.

Hillcrest Farm Market also includes a B&B, Cafe and Market.  I look forward to seeing the view of Kelowna when the Sun is up.  And especially seeing their produce section full of fresh produce.

Bamboo Chopsticks

On Friday, I dropped my son off at school and tried heading to Good Earth but there was no parking anywhere to be had.  Headed into downtown Kelowna to hit up Starbucks, same thing.  So, I ended up heading into Westbank to the Blenz where it is normally pretty dead, loads of parking and best of all, it’s free!

Mid-week I had started to get the sniffles and a bit of a sore throat.  As I was passing the road to our house and heading into Westbank, I started getting excited realizing that it would also be a great time to go for some Chicken Breast Soup at Bamboo Chopsticks!

After I had gotten seated in the restaurant, I remembered grabbing my dSLR and went out to the car in hopes of getting much better photos then I normally do with only my cell phone camera when I am there:

If you ever head to Bamboo Chopsticks in Westbank because you heard of it from my blog, be sure to tell Linda that daddyjake sent you  ;o)

Good Earth Cafe – South Pandosy, Kelowna, BC

I have always found it interesting how I bounce between the various coffee shops in the area.  It usually has something to do with ambiance, changeover in staff (and service), seasons, what I am drinking, busyness, food that is available and rewards programs.

Rewards programs have had me primarily frequenting Starbucks since I finally tried drinking their drip coffee over the summertime when I was trying to not be spending so much money.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?), since Pumpkin Spice Latte’s have been back, I have been consuming a lot of cow dairy and low and behold, I have not been feeling as well and have been having stomach pains and upset stomachs lately.

Because of this and other factors (free parking, friendly staff, ALMOND MILK), I decided to head to Good Earth this morning after dropping my son off at school.  I always forget how much I love the taste of their hot, Almond Milk, White Mochas.

Over last weekend, I was attending the Touch for Health Level Two course being offered at Happily Holistic and because of that, did not get to enjoy my usual Sunday morning routine of coffee, blogging and flickering and then coffee with my friends.  Before I went to bed last night, I had decided today would be a blogging day after rescheduling an appointment I had this morning.

I have so far gotten three blog posts published, worked on a few drafts, been researching recipes online for making soups and should be publishing this blog post as well (marking number four blog post of the day).

I pondered for about a half hour (because of cost) as to whether or not to have a second almond milk, white mocha this morning – something I never do with mocha’s because of the cost.

Because of how much blogging I have gotten done so far this morning, I decided I could have that second mocha today and wanted to continue a little while longer with my blogging.  Most mornings that I am not at work, I head to a cafe after dropping off my partner and son to get some work done.  Because of the two hour time limits of parking in downtown Kelowna, I tend to only stay down there for two hours before heading home which tends to kill my productivity – something I did not want to do today.

Now back to the drafts that have been sitting there the past few months not getting polished off and published!
